Nema 17 motors come in various lengths, ranging from 20mm long "pancake" motors to 60mm long motors. As a general rule, the longer a motor is, the greater its holding torque at rated current. Longer stepper motors also have greater rotor inertia. Nema 23 motors offer higher torque than Nema 17 motors. The Duet 2 (WiFi and Ethernet) can drive ...

Stepper motors are often misconceived as the lesser of servo motors, but as a matter of fact, they are highly reliable just like servo motors. The motor operates by accurately synchronizing with the pulse signal output from the controller to the driver, achieving highly accurate positioning and speed control. Stepper motors feature high torque and low vibration at low-speeds, ideal for ...
Feb 17, 2015 · Edit 17 Feb 2015 See Reply #29 for a suggestion ... Arduino PWM using analogWrite() has nothing to do with controlling stepper motors. To control a stepper motor though a specialized stepper motor driver the Arduino just needs to provide step and direction signals using digitalWrite().
A stepper motor is one kind of electric motor used in the robotics industry. Stepper motors move a known interval for each pulse of power. These pulses of power are provided by a stepper motor driver and is referred to as a step. As each step moves the motor a known distance it makes them handy devices for repeatable positioning.

Mar 09, 2019 · For example, NEMA 17 is a stepper motor with a 1.7 x 1.7-inch faceplate. In other words, NEMA 17 is a size, not a series of stepper motors. Why a stepper motor? The stepper motors are used to precisely control movements, whether in cars, robots, 3D printers or CNC machines.
Stepper motors are DC motors that move in discrete steps. They have ple coils that are organized in groups called "phases". By energizing each phase in sequence, the motor will rotate, one step at a time. With a computer controlled stepping you can achieve very precise positioning and/or speed control.
